indi in her last few minutes

       I feel empty, I have never lived a second of my life without indi being there. until now.

       when the vet came to euthanize indi we heard a knock on the door, that was only unusual because people who know us really well know that we never leave our door locked. When they came, I was in the living room with Boo! playing spit, my dad was on the couch working on his computer, and my mom was in the kitchen. they came in - our usual vet and a licensed technician as a helper. our vet had a suit case and the assistant had something that looked like a walkie talkie. they asked where we would like to do it, and the word "it" hung in the air. we were going to keep her on her pillow but we decided to walk her to her favorite spot on the porch. The vet explains that euthanizing was over dosing an animal with a sedative, so indi would calmly leave us. the vet was sure of her movements and she slowly injected indi with the sedative. At first we were all crying, by the end we were sobbing. Don't let anyone tell Boo! that she can't play sports cause with no warning whatsoever indi's head just dropped as she lost the strength to hold it up, and Boo! was right there to catch her. We all held indi as the last of her strength and soul dissipated. We all shared our thoughts and stories during her last minute or so and after that the vet quietly left and left us to grieve. When we had almost shriveled up from crying and couldn't breathe from hugs, I went over to a patch of moss and grabbed a head sized piece to put under her head, once we looked at indi, lying with the moss under her head we decided to cover her grave's floor with moss. while me and my mom were getting moss I pulled up one piece and under it was the propeller from and old rubber band windup plane. We showed my dad and he said "there are indi's wings witch only made sense because we were talking about indi sprouting wings before. my dad picked indi up and carried her to the edge of the lawn where her grave was.

  1. So very touching...thank you for sharing with us...reminds me of a poem I once read:

    "The best and most beautiful
    things in the world cannot
    be seen or even touched.
    They must be felt with the heart."

    Love you all! {{HUGS}}
